Augusta's Capitol, RV Repair, Road Food for lunch

Before Toby's doctor visit, John and I drove north to Augusta on a wild goose chase. Now that we have visited 48 state capitals, I've decided I want a Christmas ornament from the capitol. I've seen these brass ornaments in the shape of the capitol in many gift shops, but didn't buy one until we were in Boston, the last of the 48. Now I get to try and collect 47 more. And Maine won't be one of them. They don't have them so I bought a brass key chain in the shape of the state of Maine as an alternative. Oh, well.

Back to Range Pond to pick up Toby and then to Motor Home and RV Supercenter. Luckily, replacement of a valve solved the problem and we were ready to move on to Portland. We stopped at Cole Farm, about 10 miles down Route 100, for lunch. It's listed in our "Road Food" book. I had a lobster roll and John had an incredible chicken pot pie. Our book said they do the traditional New England boiled dinner on Thursdays, but when I asked, they said they only do it in the winter and don't start until mid-October.

After lunch, we went on to Wild Duck Campground in Scarborough, about 10 miles south of downtown Portland. It's camping for adults only. No one under 18 allowed, even to visit. We've never seen that before, but it's at the end of a cul-de-sac in a residential area next to a marsh, so maybe they got permission to build with that condition. In any case, it's a beautiful area.

Well guess what, we do have lots of water pressure out of both the hot and cold spigots, but none of it's hot. It's late by the time we discover this and too late to call the RV Dealer, so John called La Mesa RV in San Diego. It's only 4 p.m. there and John was able to talk to his good friend, Mike, the service writer. They got to be "good friends" from all our visits to the service facility last year while we were in San Diego. Mike gave him some things to try, but nothing worked, so back to Auburn in the morning.

We watched "Marnie" tonight, another Hitchcock thriller we've never seen with a young Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren.
