Chincoteague and Wild Ponies
We drove back to Chincoteague Island and out to he National Seashore on Assateague Island where the wild ponies live. Every year for the past 60 years or so the Chincoteague Fire Department is responsible for rounding up ponies on Assateague and driving them across to Chincoteague where they are auctioned off. The book and movie about Misty of Chincoteague chronicles this. We bought a copy for 4-year old granddaughter Catherine who loves horses. It was a beautiful day and the beaches were crowded.
