Getting ready for Chautauqua Institution

We drove the three miles north to the Institute to get a copy of the full week’s schedule so we can plan out what we want to do each eday. Then we drove south to Jamestown, the largest city in the area. Many of the streets are still brick and in very good condition. In other places the bricks were just paved over. We stopped at AAA and got a map of Western New York State and did some grocery shopping at Wegman’s. One side of their store is very reminiscent of Whole Foods and the other is a regular grocery store. We keep finding new regional grocery chains, all of which have their own “customer card” that you need to get the special prices. My wallet is full of them.

In the afternoon, while John was in the office checking his e-mail, he met a woman who plays in the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. They’re doing a concert on Saturday night. We’ll see about tickets.
