Andrews AFB to Jackson, New Jersey

Today is a 200 mile run up I-95. We waited until 9 a.m. to leave so the worst of the commute traffic would be over. It worked and we had an uneventful drive north. In New Jersey, we turned east on route 70 towards Tom's River. We have a reervation at the Tip Tam Campground in Jackson. The AAA book listed Jackson because there is a Four Flags Park here somewhere. We are camped in a 50-year old campground under lots of trees.

We took a ride after we got set up to find where we are headed in the morning. This is an area with a large population of Orthodox Jews. All the men are dressed in white shirts, black suits with the fringe of their prayer belts peeking out below the coat and black hats.

The culture is reflected in the signs. Advertising for a new subdivision is in Hebrew, no English. Rita’s ice cream stands are advertised to be Kosher, inspected by a named Rabbi. A meat market had the sign “Glatt” which I learned by reading an article in the New York Times this morning means that the lungs of the animals are clean. I didn’t know that when I saw the sign. So much to learn in my own country.

On the way home we saw a sign on a septic tank pumping truck that made us laugh. Brewer’s Septic stated that, “A flush beats a full house.” Think about that for a minute.
