I Have Dinner with Stephen

My son, Stephen, is in Dallas for three days on business. Heather was going to let me use her car so I could drive to Irving to meet him. It's about 50 miles, but mostly freeway so not bad. Or so I thought. Heather and I were watching the 5 p.m. news when the news stopped and a weather watch began. As Stephen said, "Weather is a spectator sport in Texas." The worst part of the thunderstorm and/or tornado was forecast to hit Burleson (where I am) about 6:30 which is when I planned to leave the house to meet Stephen at 7:30. The power went out about 6 p.m. with a tremendous lightning strike. Tana got home about 6:45, the worst of the storm was past, and I took her pickup truck instead of the car. It rained pretty hard all the way but we were seated by 8 p.m. I hadn't seen Stephen since Thanksgiving so it was good to be together. He had picked a Pan-Asian restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort and the food and service was superb. Rain had stopped by the time we headed home. Power was still out.
