We walked down the hill from the Capitol to the Carousel. The Carousel and the Capitol are located in Bushnell Park, a large park in the center of Hartford. According to their website, it was the first public park funded by a public vote (in 1854). The Carousel was moved here from Canton, Ohio. It was carved in 1914 by a company in Brooklyn and this Carousel was in Albany, New York, from 1915 to 1940 when it moved to Canton. It is a 3 row park machine with 36 jumper horses, 12 stander horses, 2 chariots and a Wurlitzer band organ. Now it is in a new barn complete with stained glass windows encircling the top. John and I took a ride. No brass ring, however.
