On to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

We were hooked up and on the road about 7:30 on our way to Coeur d’Alene. We drove along the Columbia River to Kennewick (about 150 miles), a beautiful drive as it transitions from pine forests and mountains to orchards, vineyards and rolling grasslands. The last 82 miles there were no services as we were informed by a big sign on the road.

Then north on US 395 to Coeur d’Alene. John wanted to come here although he didn’t know why, the name just intrigued him. We arrived at our campground in town about 2 p.m. The manager directed my backing the trailer into our site and was so expert I asked him to travel with us. Unfortunately, I had to keep my eyes on him in my mirror and I couldn’t watch what the trailer was doing in response to how I was turning the steering wheel. He did compliment me on following his hand signals so well so that’s something. We were set up and ready to tour the town by 3. The campground office had a good local map and we explored. Downtown around the lake is beautiful and there were LOTS of people at the beach. It’s in the 90’s today.

I’m getting used to it being light past 9 p.m.

Don't know if you are still in Coeur d'alene but when we were in that area we visited Wallace, ID - a ways to the east and toured a silver mine. Quite interesting as was the retired miner who did the tour.
