Blue Heaven for breakfast and lunch

We referred to our "Road Food" book and found Blue Heaven, the place that inspired Jimmy Buffett's song "Blue Heaven Rendezvous." Before it was a restaurant, Blue Heaven was a boxing ring (Ernest Hemingway sparred here--it's just a block from his home), a bordello, a bookmaking parlor, and a cockfighting pit. Seating is outside under banyan trees and chickens and chicks peck around under the tables. Breakfast was highly recommended by the book, and by our RV neighbor who was stationed in Key West for several years. You can see John's blueberry pancakes and the smile on his face. Notice his sweatshirt--it was chilly when we arrived and he had forgotten a jacket. Luckily they have a gift shop (doesn't everything in Key West) and a sweatshirt was the answer.

We enjoyed our meal and relaxed experience so much, we went back for lunch after touring the Hemingway House. I stuck with seafood -- shrimp omelet for breakfast and lobster sandwich for lunch.
