Strawberry Festival in Floral City

It's strawberry time in Florida and after church we went to Floral City's Strawberry Festival with the rest of "the gang." Plant City, east of Tampa, has the big strawberry festival like a County Fair. Floral City's is like a local craft fair with strawberries and live music. It rained most of Saturday, so the vendors were happy for a warm, sunny day on Sunday.

Here's Don, John and I with our strawberry shortcake. I can't imagine how many flats of strawberries were consumed because I think everyone who came had at least one bowlful. It was fun watching the assembly line put them together.

Another popular stop for Don and John was the Spam trailer. They gave free samples and packets to take home.

In addition to the shortcake, I bought a botanical hotplate filled with chickpeas, coriander seed, soybeans, mustard seed and dried flowers for my kitchen counter. The hotplates are all different by virtue of the different seeds, beans and flowers used. You can see some of the variety in this picture.
