On the top of David's wish list of things to see this trip is the Gettysburg National Battlefield and he requested two days. We have a reservation for two nights at a motel and we'll stop at Antietam on the way back to Washington on Tuesday.
We had printed the long list of Ranger talks available today and the first one on the list is at 10 a.m. at the north end of the Battlefield next to the Eternal Light Peace Memorial dedicated by FDR in 1938. We left home later than we had planned but arrived just a few minutes late. The Ranger spent an hour explaining the battle action that took place on Day One, July 1, 1893.

After the talk, we drove to the Visitors' Center that sits near the center of the Park and watched the Electric Map presentation. We've seen these at several battlefields and it is a graphic way to view a battle.

We had packed a picnic lunch and drove southwest to a picnic area. We enjoyed the shade of the trees while we enjoyed our lunch.
