We drove south to Allenstown and the Bear Brook State Park, the site of a former Civilian Conservation Corps and the Museum of Family Camping. Like many museums it was started by one man who had a collection of camping memorabilia. Since then people have donated many items. They are housed in buildings that had built for a CCC camp in the 1930s. To go along with that theme, they have many items from the CCC camp days also exhibited. They had some information on the CCC and I never realized how big an operation it was. It was in existence from 1933 to 1942 and there over 2,500 camps in the United States.
