Dr. Bayer helps us feel better than an asparin could

We sat in Barrington’s customer lounge until 11 a.m. when Al announced he had done all he could. Consensus is that there is moisture in our propane tank and it needs to be purged. They can’t do it so we decided to drive to the factory in Forest City, Iowa on our way home. It’s a bit out of the way and means we won’t go to St. Louis, but going to the “mother ship” should be helpful.

We were back at Delnor Hospital Medical Building at 2:00 to see Dr. Bayer, a hemotologist/oncologist. He explained more about plasma cell cytoma and multiple myeloma. The International Myeloma Foundation is a good resource and I signed up for their newsletter when I got home. Treatments are varied depending on how widespread these cells are. More blood tests and a bone marrow biopsy are required but we’ll do them when we get back to California. He did say that it appears we caught this in an early stage which is comforting. Other blood tests show normal functions of his kidneys, etc.

Jim Bowersox called with the names of two doctors at UCSD San Diego that he got from his cancer doctor.

We’re sorry we can’t stay here. John really felt comfortable with Dr. Bayer, but the cold isn’t conducive to living in a motorhome so we will leave tomorrow heading generally west.

We met Manus and Jacque for dinner. She had been to her doctor for a check-up and is now sporting a boot that she can walk in. No driving, but she is more mobile which is great news. We said goodbye to them after dinner and went back to Toby.
