Happy Birthday to daughter-in-law Julie. It’s Halloween, but we don’t have any candy for trick-or-treaters.
We left Springfield at 6:30 a.m. in the rain. We drove 550 miles to Amarillo, Texas and parked in a Wal-Mart parking lot. 550 miels in a motorhome in one day is a long trip. I opted out of cooking and we ate dinner at Cracker Barrel. Not my favorite restaurant, but familiar.
Our waitress, Jennifer, said she had seen John on his crutches and prayed if God wanted her to talk to him he would be in her area. We were and she did. She is 21, a former drug addict and on fire for God. She wanted to know about John’s problem so she could pray for him. Our usual response to queries is, “It’s a long story,” but she persisted and, after asking permission, laid hands on John and prayed for healing. Lutherans are usually not that bold in their witness, but maybe we should be. It was a heart-felt experience and I got her e-mail address so I could keep her informed on John’s medical progress
